Scheduling Flexibility & Sliding Scale
My preference is that we find a weekly time to meet and stick to that time throughout the school year. I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but I also have flexibility with rescheduling and make-up sessions. Students wishing to meet during the summer are not expected to make a weekly commitment.
Some students may also find meeting twice a week to be helpful.
I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available for families for whom my normal rates would make working together impossibile.
Meet Katie!
Katie’s journey with the French language began as an adolescent when her family moved from Brooklyn, NY to Paris, France for a year and a half. Her time spent in Paris strengthened Katie’s connection to the language and to francophone culture and convinced her that she could make progress with French if she tried!
Katie spent high school, her undergraduate years, and her time as a graduate student devoted to reaching near-native fluency in French, as well as to learning about the cultures of all the different francophone countries.
Today Katie is proud to say that she has reached her goal of ongoing connection on a meaningful level with native French speakers — who make up some of her closest friends — and with francophone culture.
Katie has worked with students as young as 8 years old all the way through adulthood. She has helped students prepare for the AP French exam, students who are struggling in their school French classes to improve their grades, and students who are starting from scratch with no prior knowledge of French or of language-learning and who just want to learn French because, well, it’s awesome!
If you are looking for a specific kind of help with French that is not mentioned above, please reach out to Katie — she is always looking to expand her services!
Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in French Studies from Bard College, and a Master of Arts in French from Hunter College, CUNY.
